Far from being a mere collection of reproductions, this work stands out for its thematic organization. The selection of images aims to reflect the photographic art scene of the last ten years, moving beyond the oft-shown iconic images and avoiding an exotic vision of the country that would merely excite curiosity.

Iranian photography is characterized by its degree of engagement and its political dimension. The artists’ approaches are rarely neutral, and for most of them, the choice of subjects and their execution remain a delicate matter.

Iranian Photography showcases the work of Iran’s greatest photographers, true icons, as well as photographs by emerging and independent contemporary artists.
