Elena Perlino, an Italian photographer who recently moved to Paris, immersed herself in a neighborhood in the 18th arrondissement well known to Parisians: La Goutte d’Or.

It is one of the capital’s most vibrant areas, characterized by a cultural mix where more than thirty different ethnic groups live side by side. A small area with a population of around thirty thousand.

Elena Perlino lived and shared the daily lives of the inhabitants of La Goutte d’Or, getting up close and personal with them in both public and private spheres. From homes to mosques, hidden places to small shops of all kinds, wedding celebrations to large religious gatherings.
