Forty years ago, Augusto Boal arrived in France, bringing with him the Theater of the Oppressed. He passionately shared his knowledge while continuing his research. For 20 years, the NAJE (Nous n’Abandonnerons Jamais l’Espoir) company has been working to extend his work by exploring the incredible richness of this tool and passing it on as faithfully as possible. This double anniversary is an opportunity to recount the Theater of the Oppressed through the history of the company.
In the conversation that runs through these pages, Fabienne Brugel and Jean-Paul Ramat, the two founders of NAJE, tell this story, supplemented by testimonials from other members of the team, residents who have participated in their workshops or major projects, and partners with whom they have carried out these actions.
