“It is rare for a work to be so rich in ramifications. After all, it is only trees and landscapes. There are certainly characters in these shots, but they are doing very little. Nothing to upset the viewer. Nothing. Almost nothing. Yet in this almost nothing there are references to a deeply buried inner world. Without really understanding where they come from, we are overwhelmed by recurrences, references to mythology, art, art history, the representation of visible reality, reality, fiction, objectivity, free will, nostalgia for our origins—in short, the question “What have we been doing here for so long? Much of the power of Jocelyn Philibert’s approach lies in his images, which offer immediate pleasure while opening up a vast field of logical, aesthetic, and metaphysical investigation.” (Marcel Blouin)
