Fascinated by the ‘Tierra Caliente’, photographer Myriam Viallefont-Haas made several trips to Cuba over a period of more than thirty years. In 1985, the photographs were in black and white, while in 2017 they were in colour.

Immersing oneself in this multifaceted work reveals the complexity of the situations, but also the poetry of the places, bringing us closer to the Cuban condition and finally breaking free from the usual clichés.

The book is divided into two parts. The first presents the author’s visual journey through quasi-cinematic photographic sequences in the style of working notes that address architecture, daily life, culture and the economy in turn. The second part takes the form of a large-format portfolio, offering the reader the opportunity to revisit the mythical city through the emblematic images of Myriam Viallefont-Haas.
This book includes a long interview between the author and Caroline de Hugo.
