By linking the analytical methods of sociology, human geography, and political science to a general ambition of territorial engineering, the work carried out by 6t, over ten years of studies and applied research, lays the foundations for an engineering of lifestyles. Engineering transport services that do not respond to aspirations is doomed to failure. In the world of choices in which many people live, it is no longer possible to constrain behavior through supply. This is all the more true given that users are very creative in “repurposing” the available travel options to suit their own projects. It is for all these reasons that we propose starting with people, their motivations, and their constraints to imagine the mobility systems of tomorrow. This book is the result of a collective process of reflection and writing. It was developed through regular seminars within the 6t team and then collaboratively written.
