Le parcours professionnel d’Hélène Mauri comprend une double activité à la fois d’infirmière et de photographe. Deux vocations qu’elle a toujours suivies et à laquelle elle a souhaité associer une pratique artistique. Elle a donc suivi une formation à l’École nationale supérieure Louis-Lumière en 2010. En 2013, à la fin du cursus, elle démarre le projet S’il n’y avait qu’une image. Son métier d’infirmière est bien sûr un atout dans ses projets photographiques, lui permettant d’entrer facilement en relation avec les patients, de connaître parfaitement le milieu hospitalier et d’être intégrée par les équipes soignantes. En 2018, elle suit un diplôme Inter Universitaire de Soins Palliatifs à Lille où elle traite de ce projet dans son mémoire de fin d’études.

Hélène Mauri, a nurse and photographer, asked people living with a serious progressive illness or at the end of their lives what photograph they would like to see or have. We all surely have a special place in our lives, perhaps a person or an object. They were free to request any photograph (landscape, portrait, etc.). Following this request, Hélène Mauri offered to take the photograph, whatever it might be and wherever it might be, and then bring them a print to hang on the wall of their hospital room. Readers first read about the person's wish, and then discover the photograph on the following page.
