Anne Leroy est photographe. Elle est basée entre Paris et Bordeaux, mais son cœur est à l’Est. Dans son travail, il est question d’histoires d’hommes et de territoires. Depuis dix ans, elle interroge la construction des identités individuelles et collectives par le biais d’enquêtes rigoureuses. Son approche est marquée par une grande exigence documentaire qui offre une vision d’un engagement sans concession. Loin de tout sensationnalisme ou artifice esthétique, ces images, qu’elles embrassent des paysages ou s’attachent à certains détails offrent un regard distant, précis et construit sur le monde, mais aussi empreint d’une certaine poésie. Son travail se construit au gré de résidences d’artiste, d’expositions et de commandes pour la presse.

Mioveni is a city in Romania located between Bucharest and the Carpathian Mountains. After the fall of communism, the city was able to survive thanks to the automotive industry. Today, all of its inhabitants live according to the rhythm of the factory. For nearly three years, photographer Anne Leroy and journalist Julia Beurq accompanied the daily lives of Mioveni's inhabitants, bringing back images and stories that immerse the reader in the intimacy of working-class life.
This book recounts their immersion in this working-class city which, with the takeover of Dacia by Renault fifteen years ago, seems to have escaped the fate of other single-industry towns that fell into ruin after the fall of communism.
