On the Road with Pier Paolo Pasolini is a trilogy inspired by Pier Paolo Pasolini's travelogue, The Long Sand Road, which recounts his journey along the Italian coastline in his Millecento during the summer of 1959. This little-known work already contains all of Pasolini's poetry, his authentic, sometimes incisive remarks on the state of his country and his love for it. Chantal Vey retraced this route, alone at the wheel of her van, revisiting the places he described sixty years earlier.
This exploration of Italy led Chantal Vey to travel thousands of kilometers, collecting photographs, videos, sounds, words... As with Pasolini, this quest has a poetic value that goes far beyond a documentary account.
Sur la route de Pier Paolo Pasolini is composed of three chapters following the chronology of the journey, and unfolds as closely as possible to the adventure, echoing the words of the Italian poet. It is revealed from different angles, through photographs, photograms, texts, drawings, and quotations. Page after page, the aim is to take the reader, the viewer, on a journey through today's Italy, and to stir or reawaken their curiosity about the illustrious artist Pier Paolo Pasolini.
The book is interspersed with Chantal Vey's diary, allowing the reader to follow her discoveries, sensations, and reflections step by step.
