Hors des cartographies touristiques et de toute forme d’exotisme, voilà près de vingt-cinq ans que François Daireaux part seul dans des pays qu’il ne connaît pas pour en tirer des expériences. Il travaille comme un glaneur, de formes, de situations, d’images dans un exercice pugnace et solitaire du regard. Il creuse et sculpte les couches du réel, obsédé par le geste et les transformations qu’il opère tant dans la matière que dans l’espace social. Ces dernières années, le travail photographique et filmique de l’artiste s’est intensifié pour affirmer une oeuvre visuelle dont on saisit aujourd’hui les contours et les engagements, tant dans le questionnement de l’aliénation des corps que dans une approche sensible de l’entropie urbaine des pays émergents. Le travail de François Daireaux est couramment exposé dans diverses institutions au travers le monde.
