Christian Bonnefoi
L’artiste peintre Christian Bonnefoi naît en 1948 à Salindre dans le Gard. Après un doctorat en histoire de l’art à la Sorbonne, il se consacre à la peinture. De 1977 à 1978, il fait partie de Ja na pa, groupe prenant explicitement le contre-pied de Support/Surfaces. Préférant une logique de construction à celle de déconstruction, la principale préoccupation de Bonnefoi est de produire une surface, objet même de l’œuvre. Le collage est un moyen pour l’artiste de la créer.

Toucher terre is composed like a true artist's book in a single sequence of images. A text by the artist Christian Bonnefoi is printed in a separate booklet inserted into the book. From the first page, the reader enters a world of photography, images reproduced in very large format, and encounters characters seemingly from a mythological epic, captured in gestures and postures describing them in moments of gravity or grace, amidst spaces always imbued, even if strangely familiar to us, with a sense of elsewhere.
