Gabriel Bauret travaille pour le magazine Zoom de 1980 à 1984. Il y tient, entre autres, une rubrique sur la créativité publicitaire. Il dirige jusqu’en 1993 la rédaction de Camera International. Commissaire indépendant, spécialisé dans la photographie, il organise des expositions rétrospectives et thématiques en France et à l’étranger. Nommé délégué artistique du Mois de la Photo à Paris en 2006, il présente en 2008 et 2010 plusieurs expositions dans le cadre de cette manifestation. Il collabore régulièrement avec la Maison Européenne de la Photographie en tant que commissaire d’exposition. Gabriel Bauret a rédigé et préfacé de nombreux ouvrages sur la photographie et a participé à la rédaction du catalogue de l’exposition sur l’histoire de la photographie publicitaire en France, présentée au musée de la Publicité à Paris en 2006. Il est aégalementt chargé d’un enseignement sur la photographie à l’Ecole nationale des arts décoratifs de Paris.

The book brings together the work of three female photographers from Germany who emigrated to South America in the late 1930s due to the rise of Nazism in Europe. All three trained in photography in Germany, at the legendary Bauhaus school and Paul Wolff's studio, and began their careers in Berlin, Paris, and London.

This book originated from a photographic commission given by the city of Reims to five European photographers, overseen by Gabriel Bauret. Jordi Bernadó meticulously explored the diverse landscapes of Reims, venturing deep into the chalk quarries. He focused on details of reality that only he can see and capture with wit.
Arno Gisinger delved into the city's history in numerous locations, working to revive the memory of several episodes that contribute to the creation of its heritage.
Claudio Sabatino juxtaposed monuments and modern urban development, and with an architect's eye, he developed a route that led him from Notre-Dame Cathedral to the Chemin Vert district.
Paolo Verzone created on-site portraits of figures whose lives and activities are, in various ways, intertwined with the fate of the city's heritage.
As for Sophie Zénon, she immediately turned her attention to the reserves of the Palais du Tau. The numerous statues that inhabit them were, in a magical instant, brought back to life by his photographic writing.
