It all started with a loaded word thrown onto a table around which seventeen photography students at the School of Information Professions (EMI) were impatiently waiting: THE CRISIS! They heard talk of precariousness, abandonment, suffering… Some whispered fear, uncertainty, shipwreck… while others, irreverent, tried to sidestep the issue with a good laugh. Then this impromptu group, in a very short time, crisscrossed Paris and its suburbs, a vibrant territory, to give an image to this much-discussed crisis. But what was it all about?

A crisis of civilization?

Economic?

Existential?

Cultural?

Political?

Ecological?

Each photographer wanted to respond freely, the approaches were very diverse, and a team of apprentice graphic designers staged this chaotic material, even as it slid towards bankruptcy… It seems that crises precede revolutions…
