After the shock of the death of her partner, the father of her son, Anne De Gelas focused on her new, smaller family unit. Mother and Son is this face-to-face encounter, this intense bond and, at the heart of this situation, the permanence of femininity and desire, the return to life.
Through her texts, drawings, and photographs, she highlights the complexity of this relationship, the complicity as well as the violence, the loneliness and the tenderness.
The change brought about by this face-to-face encounter, experienced so differently by a son/child and a woman/mother, and the life that goes on, the passing years, and the physical changes for both of them.
