Hélène Mauri, a nurse and photographer, asked people living with a serious progressive illness or at the end of their lives what photograph they would like to see or have. We all surely have a special place in our lives, perhaps a person or an object. They were free to request any photograph (landscape, portrait, etc.). Readers first read about the person’s wish, and then discover the photograph on the following page.
